Pattern, the new hair-care line from actor and full-on beam of blindingly glorious light Tracee Ellis Ross, was easily one of the most exciting beauty-brand launches of 2019. Created so everyone could have access to products that make their curly hair feel hydrated and look beautiful, it kicked off with a collection of shower-centric products, including a shampoo, conditioner, and shower brush. And now, Pattern is breaking out from under the water with a new array of styling products.
“It’s always been the plan to bring styling products to Pattern,” Ross says in a statement from the brand. “Curlies, coilies, and tight textures know our hair, the types of products that work for us, and what we want. We’ve been listening, and it’s been great incorporating feedback into the development of these new products. I’m super proud of how the brand and our community have come together as we continue to fulfill the beauty needs of the natural hair community.”
The result of that listening: five new styling products and three new tools.
There are two new gels: Curl Gel ($25) and Strong Hold Gel ($25). The former is a medium-hold formula that encourage soft, flexible, touchable curls, while the latter is made for super-sleek curl definition without crunch. The must-have Styling Cream ($25) is ideal for especially coily and tight textures in need of definition and manageability with a hint of hold. For moisture without hold, there’s the Hydrating Mist ($18), which promises to reactivate, rehydrate, and protect curls from environmental stressors. And the new Edge Control ($12) styles and sets baby hairs without any residue.
One of the styling tools joining the Pattern family addresses edges as well, the Edge Tool ($12), a perfect way to craft swirls with the help of the Edge Control formula. The new Hair Pick ($9) features extra-long prongs that shape and add volume, and the Wide Tooth Comb ($15) is ideal for gently detangling while encouraging volume.
Although the focus of the new launches is styling, the shower line is getting a few more fun additions. The new Clarifying Shampoo ($20) goes deep to remove buildup without stripping moisture, while the Jojoba Oil Hair Serum Self-Heating Packs ($15), take the fan-favorite Jojoba Oil Hair Serum and turns them into a three-minute, single-serving heated treatment. There are even new jumbo versions of the Leave-In Conditioner and Hydration Shampoo.
All of the new products — including new kits combining several of the products — are available now at patternbeauty.com and will be landing at Ulta on June 28.
