We all know how important it is to keep our hands clean, regardless of, but especially during a pandemic. Medical professionals say that when a sink and soap aren’t available for hand-washing, hand sanitizer is the next best thing, as long as it’s made with at least 60 percent isopropyl or ethyl alcohol to efficiently kill germs. And the very best of the next best thing, in my opinion, is Touchland Power Mist Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer.
My motivation to use hand sanitizer is at an all-time high. Whose isn’t? But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t deterred by the smell and sensation of some formulas. Any time I’ve had to run an errand, I’ve typically taken advantage of the hand sanitizer made available to customers on the counters or at the entrances. I know I’m doing the right thing by diligently keeping my hands de-germed, but I almost always experience immediate remorse because of how unpleasant nearly every formula is in one way or another. One industrial-sized bottle pumped out a gooey concoction that made my hands smell and feel like I’d recently handled fish; another one I’m pretty sure was just the watery stuff at the top of a yogurt container; the dispenser in front of my apartment building’s elevators releases foam that somehow smells both minty and sour.
Luckily, I’ve had a Touchland Power Mist on hand (ha!) for most of the pandemic, and that’s what I’ve been using — as long as I remember to put it in the bag I’m carrying. I’d had a couple on deck before shit got real, and I couldn’t have been more grateful to have had them when everyone was struggling to find even the cheapest of hand sanitizers. It gave me so much peace of mind to know that the 67 percent ethyl alcohol concoction was eliminating 99.9 percent of the germs on my hands, and doing so in a cruelty-free, vegan formula.
But if all Touchland did was kill germs, it wouldn’t be winning an Allure Best of Beauty Award. It’s a true standout among other hand sanitizers for a variety of reasons. First, there are eight wonderful scents, like Forest Bery, Vanilla Cinnamon, and my personal favorite, Watermelon; none of them are overwhelming, but just in case, there’s a fragrance-free option, too. Then, there’s the fact that your hands feel better after application instead of sticky or dehydrated, thanks to citrus essential oils and aloe vera. And finally, the packaging — have you ever seen such a chic, could-be-mistaken-for-a-smartphone hand sanitizer in your life?
I know for a fact that I’m one of many Allure editors who adore Power Mist. I urge you to continue using the stinky, sticky stuff until your Touchland order arrives, but once you try it, you, too, will become a hand-sanitizer snob.
