This Makeup Artist Created a Gorgeous Monochromatic Look Using Only Black-Owned Beauty Brands — See the Photos

It’s no secret that Black-owned beauty brands have received a flood of attention and support over the last few weeks in response to the Black Lives Matter movement and the anti-racist efforts that are finally taking place. That being said, the fact of the matter is, we should be celebrating and shopping these brands not just now — but always. This week, a makeup artist by the name of Lauren B. Brown expressed this sentiment by creating a glamorous monochromatic look using products from all Black-owned brands.

The 18-year-old MUA, who goes by @raggedyroyal on Instagram, tells Allure the point she was trying to make by using all Black-owned brands for this look. In an email, she writes: “With this look composed of Black-owned beauty brands, I wanted to highlight the importance of supporting companies that support Black artists daily.”

The makeup look includes a bronze smoky eye with gold glitter, peachy-gold cheeks, and rust-toned tips that tie everything together. She also went for a dramatic lash look with ultra-long falsies. As Brown documents on Instagram, she used products from brands like Coloured Raine, Pat McGrath Labs, The Lip Bar, and SlayByElla.

Brown amassed a lot of love and positive feedback on her post, with comments from fans like, “Love this lip on you 😍, “QUEEN,” and “Just followed the brands i wasnt following just yet, thank you!” In regards to the latter comment, this just goes to show how important it is to spotlight Black-owned beauty brands.
