Osea Ocean Cleanser Is Ideal for Oily Skin — Editor Review

I’m cautious when trying new skin-care products — my skin is on the drier side, and the wrong product can leave my face feeling uncomfortably tight, red, and in need of an immediate slathering of thick moisturizer. However, the warmer temperatures have caused brand-new oily patches on my chin and forehead that require something a little stronger than my usual routine. The Osea Ocean Cleanser is the perfect middleman. It soaked up the oil on my chin, nose, and forehead, while leaving my dry cheeks hydrated and glowing.

The Ocean Cleanser is a creamy, pistachio-colored gel, with an earthy citrus scent bottled up in frosty glass that looks way too chic for my childhood bathroom (yes, I’m quarantining with my parents). It would be more suited for the locker room of a luxury spa or the marble bathroom at a beach house getaway.

I first removed my makeup with an oil cleanser (while the Osea cleanser dissolves face makeup, I wanted to use something that would tackle waterproof mascara). Then, I used this face wash on my makeup-free skin. The gel melts into a slippery, silky texture when applied to damp skin. It’s got a blend of hydrating and clarifying oils including juniper, cypress, and jojoba. The gel also contains vegan lactic acid (derived from fermented beets) that gently exfoliates skin. I didn’t notice any burning, only a soothing cooling sensation that is much appreciated after a sweaty day in the summer sun (or, let’s be real, a stuffy day spent in front of my laptop). There was none of the tight or stripped feeling that I’ve experienced with some exfoliating cleansers.

I normally don’t use a cleanser in the morning (water only for me), but decided to work this into my A.M. routine. My skin looked noticeably healthier under my light work-from-home makeup, and the citrusy scent, derived from orange and lime oils, was a refreshing wake-up call.
