MTV VMAs 2020: See Celebrities Getting Ready — Photos

We know — this has been a year like no other. Despite the fact that we’re currently dealing with a pandemic, MTV has decided that the show must go on and is proceeding with its 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. Even though the world may feel like it’s ending, the network is ready to bring us outstanding performances from the likes of Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, and K-pop group BTS, along with presenters such as Bella Hadid and Jaden Smith — all wearing incredible fashion and beauty looks.

As we know, some of our favorite celebrities have an entire glam team at the ready to help them get prepped for an award show. Talented hairstylists, makeup artists, manicurists, and sometimes aestheticians are behind the stunning looks we see walk the red carpets (or, in Sunday night’s case, perform from undisclosed locations or take part in socially distanced interviews).

Here, we’re highlighting all our favorite looks, as well as the folks behind them, and sharing some of the behind-the-scenes magic that it takes to create an award show-ready look. From sheet mask to setting spray, here are some of the products your favorite performers and presenters use before they hit the stage.

Check out some of our favorite pre-red carpet sneak peeks, all shared with the world before the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards officially kicked off.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande hasn’t shared exactly how she’s getting ready yet, but she has shared this adorable photo on Instagram with the caption: “happy VMA day::).” Grande posed for the camera wearing a simple winged liner and the cutest ombré pigtails. She credited Josh Liu as her hairstylist and makeup artist Michael Anthony for the simple, soft glam look.
