Many consider bleaching the face as the easiest way to get rid of tan, but skin experts and dermatologists do not recommend bleaching the skin because it is loaded with chemicals. The quality of bleach you are using is very important as you can damage the skin and cause mild burns. Bleach burns are caused due to the presence of strong chemicals or maybe it was over kept on the skin and sometimes the type of skin may also contribute to this unfortunate situation. Bleaching can often leave skin inflamed, irritated, with burns as a major issue. It’s best to consult a doctor to treat any side effects caused due to bleaching, but here are some natural and homemade methods to calm and soothe your skin.

1. Cold water
This is the best and the easiest way to soothe your skin. If you see redness, flush your face continuously with cold water. Avoid using soap and face wash over the next 24 hours and consult the doctor.

2. Aloe Vera Gel
Apply fresh aloe vera gel to the affected area. It will be a great idea to refrigerate the aloe vera gel for a few minutes before application to calm down the skin quickly. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties which help to calm your skin and also heal it soon. Massage your skin with Aloe Vera gel for twice or thrice a day, you’ll get a younger looking skin.

3. Ice cubes
Massaging your skin with ice cubes is the best way to cure your burned skin. It helps bring down the warmth of the irritated skin. Wrap ice cubes around clean cotton cloth and slowly dab it on the affected area.

4. Potato Peels
Potato peels have been used since ages to treat minor burns. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties and strong healing power this can be used to cure the bleach affected areas too. Just cover the affected area with a potato peel and repeat this twice a day.

5. Coconut milk:
You can directly apply coconut milk on the affected area and leave it for a few minutes. Leave it for 15 minutes and wipe off after that with cold water.

6. Lavender Oil:
Lavender oil has anti-septic properties that helps to calm down minor burn. It would help to treat the skin faster without leaving any scares behind. If a large area of the skin is affected, keep applying lavender oil after every few hours with the help of a cotton ball.

7. Honey and Aloe Vera Pack: Honey has anti-bacterial properties and heals burn wounds faster than ointments. It also helps soothe and calm down skin.

8. Apply Coconut Oil: Apply a thin layer of coconut oil on the bleached area to soothe irritated skin.

9. Cucumber Juice: Cucumber has amazing soothing and cooling properties and it’s great to calm down skin that has been exposed to chemical treatment.

10. Black Tea: Make a concoction out of black tea to soothe burns on the face. To make it, soak a few black tea bags in cool water and apply it on to the affected area and leave it overnight.

Additionally, stay away from sunlight right after bleaching. Whenever you step out, apply a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 protection to protect your skin.
