As someone with normal/dry skin, “hydration” is the one word I’m always looking for on my skin-care products. In addition to using hyaluronic acid serums, slathering on moisturizers, and increasing my water intake, I occasionally like to indulge in a face mask, specifically sheet masks because they’re so easy to use.
Right now, I’ve been using ones from K-beauty brand Glam Up. The Soothing Aloe and Revitalizing Japanese Sake sheet masks are great for those days when my face is feeling extra dehydrated. The brand sells a total of 12 different masks, including the two mentioned, that all target different skin concerns.
The Soothing Aloe mask is made specifically for dry skin (like mine). It’s infused with aloe vera extract and allantoin, a popular K-beauty ingredient for sensitive skin, that help to hydrate and soothe. Similar to the Soothing Aloe mask, the Revitalizing Japanese Sake also contains aloe vera extract but its magical ingredient is sake. Apparently, the alcoholic beverage that pairs amazingly with sushi is also great for brightening any discoloration or scarring that you may have.
I like to pop my face masks in the fridge the night before, so they are cold when I apply them. Per the instructions, I cleansed my skin. Then, I pulled the Glam Up Soothing Aloe Sheet Mask out of the packaging and smoothed it over my face. The cooling feeling immediately relaxed me and felt like heaven on the skin. Then, I sat down and put on an episode of Bleach while I let it do its work.
Roughly 30 minutes later, I took off the mask to reveal smooth and refreshed skin. Each mask comes with a little notch at the bottom corner that you can cut to get the rest of the serum left in the packaging. I snipped the corner, and patted the extra essence into my neck and face. Then, I proceeded with the rest of my skin-care routine.
You’ll find the Glam Up’s Soothing Aloe and Revitalizing Japanese Sake Sheet Masks in our September 2020 Allure Beauty Box.
