I’ve always been a fan of Giorgio Armani’s fragrances. Not only do they smell absolutely divine, but the meaning and emotions the brand imagines for those wearing it is nothing less than powerful.
Sure, the first thing I do when choosing a fragrance is, of course, smell it. But the message behind it means just as much to me as the scent itself. What does it represent? What characteristics does the perfumer see someone displaying while wearing it? Diving deeper inside the bottle of Giorgio Armani’s Sì, I discovered some of the many reasons why it won a 2020 Allure Best of Beauty Award.
With notes of mandarin, blackcurrant nectar, and vanilla, Sì allows you to experience an evolving scent that Armani describes as “an irresistible combination of grace, strength, and independent spirit.” Because I grew up in California, where everyone in my family lives no more than 10 minutes away from each other, you can imagine their surprise when I announced I was fleeing to New York City. Independence has and will always be a quality I possess and nurture as I grow, similar to the progressing redolences in Sì.
It portrays an evolution comparable to a young girl growing up and coming into one’s independent self. At first, you experience fruity hints of nectar and mandarin, something an innocent young girl might wear. But as the scent blossoms, it conveys a deeper, forbidden fruit with traces of warm vanilla, evolving into a mature woman who has grown into her identity. And it’s versatile enough to be worn both day and night.
Structured yet simplistic, the bottle’s rectangular shape with rounded edges is both pleasing to the eye and easy to grasp when spritzing. The transparent design leaves no room for distractions as the sleek, black-as-night, oval-shaped cap plays on the evolution of the unconventional yet authentic woman wearing it, capturing all your attention.
