When Beyoncé does literally anything, you’ve gotta pay attention. So naturally, when the icon shared the official trailer for her visual album Black Is King, we all tuned in. She initially teased us with the news a few weeks ago but in a stunning act of generosity, she just gifted us with two trailers of her latest work. In one of them, her beautiful daughter (manager, and choreographer, according to Beyhive lore), Blue Ivy, makes an appearance in bold lipstick and gorgeous gown.
On July 29, Beyoncé shared the second trailer with the Hive on Instagram. The video starts with a far away shot of a car driving through grassy plains before transitioning to vivid, colorful shots full of beautiful Black people as she begins to narrate: “To live without reflection for so long might make you wonder if you even truly exist.”
Blue Ivy makes her appearance at exactly 0:51. It’s a fleeting moment in which the eight-year-old sits at a table beside her mother.
The young Ms. Carter looks like royalty in her white off-the-shoulder gown, accessorized with simple studs and a pearl necklace that hangs delicately on her neck. Her box braids are styled into a tall topknot and wrapped with gold wire adorned with little pearlescent shells. To complete the style, her baby hairs are finessed to perfection. The young star smiles in minimal makeup and a brick-red lip that we need the details on immediately. The satiny hue is far from subtle and reminds us, yet again, that Blue will always be the one to steal the show. Sorry, Bey, but that’s what happens when you give birth to a legend!
Black Is King officially launches on July 31 at midnight on Disney+. Check out the trailer below to get a little taste of what the film has in store.
