Slicing open an aloe vera leaf to reveal its slimy goodness has been a regular part of my wash-day hair routine for years. I blend the flesh just enough to break it down into a gel. Then, apply it as a soothing pre-shampoo treatment to nourish my itchy scalp and dry curls. I’ve also read about the merits of aloe vera for dry skin — something I’ve battled for years — but the idea of smoothing the gooey (and smelly) substance onto my parched face was far less appealing.
Thankfully, I can get a similar moisturizing effect with Belif’s newest launch: The True Cream Aqua Bomb Aloe Vera. This product is a remix on the original True Cream Aqua Bomb. The first formula uses centuries-old herbology derived from the work of Duncan Napier in a whipped gel-cream base. The newer version adds in the soothing and hydrating properties of aloe vera, making it the ultimate moisturizer.
I apply this product right after my serums and before my sunscreen. I only use a small dollop, which I divide among the four sections of my face and down onto my neck. My skin glows the moment this cream is rubbed in. When I’m staying in for the day, I like to layer on a bit more of the cream, almost as if it’s a mask, for a brief at-home facial. My skin looks a little shiny, but it stays hydrated and smooth for hours.
It will be hard to find a moisturizer that could replace this moisturizer’s spot in my bathroom. Guess, I’ll just have to wait until the brand creates something even better than this one.
You’ll find the Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb Aloe Vera in our June 2020 Allure Beauty Box.
